This implement is made with 3 la'amia (gourds). Each one is unique in size, sound, weight, coloring, etc. as it is made with naturally grown gourds. The two ends are filled with ali’ipoe seeds. The middle/smaller la’amia is used as a handle while the little wood piece is pulled to wind and unwind the cord helping to vibrate the implement to make a rattle sound. Handmade in Hawai'i.
